HASLETT Mrs. Katheryn Haslett, 62, of 408 Henry Street, died Saturday night in Richmond Memorial Hospital. A Nansemond County school teacher for 23 years she headed the English and Language department at Holland High School for 17 years and the same department at Forest Glen High School for six years. The first Beta Club at Holland High School was organized by Mrs. Haslett. She also served as sponsor of the club at Forest Glen. Mrs. Haslett was state Beta Club sponsor in 1967-68. A native of Forest City, N.C., she was a member of Virginia Education Association, Nansemond County Education Association and Virginia Association of English Teachers. She was a member of Suffolk Christian Church. She was the widow of Joseph Edward Haslett and a daughter of Forrest I. and Mrs. LaUna Warren Barber. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Larry H. Stroud of Beeville, Tex.; a son, Joseph Edward Haslett Jr. of Portsmouth; a brother, Forrest I. Barber, Jr. of Forest City, N.C.; three sisters, Mrs. Alice Price of Charlotte, N.C., Mrs. Elizabeth Harris of Forest City, and Mrs. Minnie B. Rhodes of Henderson, N.C.; and six grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. in R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home by Dr. Robert B. Marr. Burial will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery. Katheryn (BARBER; Mrs. Joseph E.)
