HAWKINS, 61, BURIED MARCH 23, IN SUFFOLK CEMTY. Funeral services for Walter Watkins Hawkins of Carrollton were conducted Thursday, March 23 at 2 p.m. at the Hill Funeral Home in Suffolk by the Rev. John C. Mitchell, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Suffolk. Burial was in Holly Lawn Cemetery. Mr. Hawkins, 61, a former Suffolk resident and a farmer near Carrollton, died Tuesday, March 21, in the Obici Hospital after a short illness. A native of Dinwiddie County, he was a son of Henry Y. and Mrs. Martha Humphries Hawkins. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Martha Elizabeth Lewis Hawkins; two sons, W.T. Hawkins of Suffolk; and B.L. Hawkins of Norfolk, three sisters, Mrs. Peachie Hawkins and Mrs. Frank Southall of Petersburg and Mrs. Tom Wilson of Stoney Creek; four brothers, Wiley Hawkins, Albert Hawkins and Ernest Hawkins of Petersburg and Davie Hawkins of Dinwiddie County and five grandchildren.
