Suffolk, Virginia - December 1 - Died Tuesday December 1, 1953 at 5:00 a.m. at his home on the White Marsh Road after a short illness. He was a son of the late James Tilman Hyatt Senior and Nancy Hyatt of Nansemond County. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Indiana Ellis Hyatt; 6 daughters, Mrs. Jesse Jackson of Nansemond, Mrs. Henry Hearn of Smithfield, Mrs. Louis Seubert of Norfolk, Mrs. Marvin Matthews and Mrs. Sidney Johnson of Suffolk and Mrs. J.P. Byrd Jr. of Texas; 3 sons, Lewis Hyatt of Newport News, J.W. Hancock of Portsmouth and J.H. Hancock of Suffolk; 2 sisters, Mrs. Gertie Bradshaw of Holland and Mrs. W.E. Bowden of Newport News; 14 grandchildren and a great grandson. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, December 4, 1953 at 2:00 p.m. at the Hill Funeral Home by the Rev. R.E. Brittle, pastor of Bethlehem Christian Church. Burial will be in Cypress Chapel Christian Church Cemetery.
