Claude (Buddy) Howell, 70, of 167 Cambridge Ave. died Wednesday in Richland Memorial Hospital, Columbia. A native of Suffolk, he was a retired city fireman and later worked as a saw filer for Kincaid Machine Co., Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. John Saunders of Columbia, S.C.; two sons, Claude Riddick Howell of Norfolk and James S. Howell of Cincinnati, Ohio; a sister, Mrs. C.R. Smith of Nashville, Tenn.; two brothers, A. Hudson Howell and Garland A. Howell of Norfolk; and three grandchildren. A funeral will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in I.O. Hill & Co. Funeral Home by Dr. R.E. Brittle. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
