He was the son of the late Dempsey and Sue Howell, and had been an active member of Holy Neck Christian Church for the past 45 years. Surviving him are his widow, Mrs. Patty Holland Howell; two sisters, Mrs. Ernest Brinkley and Mrs. Odie Harrell, of Norfolk; two half-sisters, Mrs. Mary Owens, of Richmond, and Mrs. Lizzie Adams, of Holland; two half-brothers, John W. Howell, of Holland, and Jodie R. Howell, of Suffolk. The body was taken to the funeral home of I.O. Hill & Co. On Friday at 3 p.m. the procession will leave the Hill funeral home for Holy Neck Christian Church where funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. with the Rev. H.E. Crutchfield, of Holy Neck Christian Church, and the Rev. R. E. Brittle, of Bethlehem Christian Church, officiating.
