Dempsey Howell, 84, Dies Near Holland 

  Dempsey Howell, age 84, a prominent farmer of Nansemond county, died this 
morning at 4:20 o'clock at his home near Holland, atter a brief illnesss. 

  Mr. Howell is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Crowder Taylor, of Corapeake, 
N.C., Mrs. Ernest Brinkley, of Franklin, Mrs. Odie Harrell, of Carrsvillle, 
T.R. Owen, of Richmond and Mrs. J.L. Adams, of Holland; four sons, David, 
Charlie, Johnnie, and Jodie Howell, of Holland, a half-sister, Mrs. Jonnie 
Green, of Drum Hill, N.C.; twenty-five grandchildren and one great grandchild. 

  Funeral services will be held at the residence Sunday afternoon at 3 
o'clock, conducted by the Rev. Dr. N.G. Newman, and the Rev. W.H. Corbitt. 
Interment will be made in the family cemetery.

   Maria (HOLLAND) HOWELL have been listed in the HOLLAND family cemetery 
   on O'Kelly Dr., where Sarah's parents, George Washington & Mary Elizabeth 
   (DUKE) HOLLAND are buried.
