R.E. Brittle, pastor of Bethlehem Christian Church. Burial will be in the family cemetery near Holland. Mr. Howell, 65, of 117 Morgan St., died Monday at 7:20 p.m. at the Lane Nursing Home after a long illness. A son of Dempsey and Annie Holland Howell, he was a native of Nansemond County and was a member of the Bethlehem Christian Church. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Bessie Holland Howell; a daughter, Mrs. Paul H. Johnson, and a son, Robert E. Howell, all of Suffolk; four sisters, Mrs. W.T. Alford of Winston-Salem, N.C.; Mrs. Sue Brinkley of Franklin; Mrs. T.B. Owen of Richmond, and Mrs. J.L. Adams of Holland; a brother, J.W. Howell of Holland; three grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
