LOUISE HOWELL GATES, N.C. - Mrs. Louise Smith Harrell Howell, 62, died Wednesday in Norfolk General Hospital after a long illness. Mrs. Howell was a Nansemond County native and the wife of Lyman Howell. She was a daughter of Robert and Mrs. Jane Austin Smith and a member of Kittrell's Methodist Church. Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, Edward A. Harrell of Gates and Robert Sheppard Harrell of Augusta, Ga.; a step-son, Henry A. Howell of Glen Burnie, Md.; a daughter, Mrs. Bobby Harrell of Eure; two step-daughters, Mrs. H.C. Rountree of Gates and Mrs. Alice Mooneyhan of Mt. Ranier, Md.; a brother, Robert Herman Smith of Whaleyville; and a sister, Mrs. Margaret Lee Harrell of Colerain, N.C.; nine grandchildren and 10 step-grandchildren. The funeral service will be held Friday at 4 p.m. in Kitrell's Methodist Church by the Rev. Evander Parnell and the Rev. Rosser L. Clapp. Burial will be in Liberty Spring Christian Church cemetery in Nansemond County. The body will be taken from Harrell's Funeral Home to the church at 3 p.m. Friday.
