Holland Suffolk, Oct. 13 - Alphonsa Saunders Holland, 63, died of a heart attack today at 1:45 p.m. at his home, 108 Oakdale Terrace. He was the son of the late James Robert and Mary Anne Pearce [sic; Pierce] Holland of Nansemond County. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Virginia Berryman Holland, of Suffolk; two sisters, Mrs. V.W. Costen, of Suffolk, and Mrs. H.K. Swain, of Portsmouth; two brothers, M.L. Holland, of Nansemond County, J. Roland Holland, of Newport News; several nieces and nephews. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Suffolk, and of the Business Men's Bible Class of that church, the Elks Lodge No. 45, of Richmond, and of the Rosewood Camp No. 2, WOW, of Suffolk. The body was taken to the I.O. Hill and Company Funeral Home, where it will remain until Thursday at 1:30 p.m., at which time it will be taken to the First Baptist Church for services at 2:30 conducted by the Rev. Julian S. Hopkins, pastor. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery, Portsmouth, with Elk rites at the graveside. ****************************************************************************** Rites Thursday For A. S. [sic; A.S.] Holland on Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the First Baptist Church. Interment will follow at the Olive Branch Cemetery in Portsmouth.
