OUTLAW HOLLAND On Saturday, December 26, 1925, at 12:25 o’clock, the sweet spirit of Mrs. Clara P. Holland took its flight to her heavenly home. She had been sick for several months and although everything was done for the recovery of her health, it was of no avail, and the disease which had fastened its clutches upon made its progress until the silver cord was loosed and the golden bowl was broken. She was anxious to get well as time went on and she realized she was not improving, she became resigned and often said, "The Lord’s will be done." She bore her suffering with wonderful patience and was nearly always bright and cheerful. She was a woman of many rare qualities, so forgetful of self, ever ready to minister to those who needed aid. Although she had reached the age of three score years and ten, she was actively engaged in her household duties, attending to the wants of her family, until a short time before she left home for medical treatment in Norfolk. She was born and raised near Carrsville, Isle of Wight County, and reared her family at her own birth place. She loved her home so well and often urged her physician to consent to her return as when would get so homesick at times but fearing the trip might be fatal they prevailed upon her to remain in Norfolk. Several weeks before her death she made plans for her funeral and selected Western Branch Church cemetery as the place of her burial. She had been a member of this church since early childhood and here on Monday, December 28, at 2:30 o’clock her funeral was conducted by her pastor, Dr. Cobb, in the presence of sorrowing relatives and friends. In her passing the church loses one of its most consistent members, her neighbors one of their best friends, her grief stricken husband a faithful wife and her sorrowing children a devoted and loving mother.
