T. Holland, Bank President and County Supervisor, Died at Richmond Hospital Yesterday From Cancer; Rites at Holy Neck Christian Church. Funeral services for Elisha Thomas Holland, president of the Farmers Bank of Holland and prominent Nansemond county citizen, who died in a Richmond hospital yesterday afternoon, will be held tomorrow afternoon at 3:30 at the Holy Neck Christian church, Holland. Burial will be made in the Holland cemetery. Mr. Holland's death, while not a shock to those who knew that he had been suffering with a lingering illness for several months, was unexpected. He had been at the Johnson-Willis hospital for treatment for cancer of the stomach for nearly a month. His recovery was doubtful but members of the family had expected his strength to hold out for a few more weeks. They were on their way to visit him at the hospital when he died. Mr. Holland was 60 years of age. Mr. Holland was one of the most active business and community leaders in Nansemond county, being an outstanding citizen of Holland. He served on the Nansemond board of supervisors for 16 years, eight of which as chairman of the board. He possessed a wide knowledge of county affairs and was an administrator of ability. He was one of the organizers of the Farmers Bank of Holland in 1919, and since its establishment served as president of the institution. Mr. Holland took an active interest in community affairs. He was an officer and worker in the Holy Neck Christian church, a member of the Holland Ruritan Club and other civic and religious bodies. Surviving Mr. Holland are his widow, Mrs. Annie H. Holland; two sons, Shirley T. Holland, cashier of the Farmers Bank at Windsor, and Howard Holland, of Holland; a daughter, Mrs. Aubrey Kelly, of Kinston, N.C.; a brother, J.R. Holland, of Holland; three sisters, Mrs. W.J. Baines and Mrs. Walter Powell, of Suffolk, and Miss Lillye Holland of Holland; four grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
