Holland Is Dead at 77; Rites Pending Gud [sic; Gus] Royster [sic; Royston) Holland, 77, of Holland, a retired farmer, died today at 7:25 a.m. in Obici Memorial Hospital after an illness of three weeks. A native of Nansemond County, he was a member of the Holland Christian Church and was the son of the late Abraham and Mrs. Emeline Holland of Nansemond County. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Pauline F. Holland of the home; six daughters, Mrs. George Smith of Suffolk, Mrs. Thomas Harcum of Norfolk, Mrs. Kermit Saunders and Mrs. William Duke of Franklin, Mrs. Oliver L. Brownlee of San Pedro, Calif., and Mrs. Oscar J. Smith of Virginia Beach; four sons, Ellis W. Holland of Norfolk, Gus R. Holland, Floyd N. Holland and Letcher Lee Holland of Holland, an adopted son, Robert P. Ellis of Roanoke; four sisters, Mrs. Leora Hedgebeth of Windsor and Mrs. Claude Bracey, Mrs. Rufus Holland and Mrs. Ellis Lassiter, who died Monday; brothers, Hurley Holland and Sam Holland of Holland; 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. The body was taken to the Hill Funeral Home. Funeral services will be announced later.
