A native of Isle of Wight County, he was a son of Jason and Mrs. Mary Butler Holland. He was a member of South Quay Baptist Church. Besides his widow, surviving are five sons, Lawrence Elmer Holland of Freer, Tex., Cecil Rhodes Holland of Norfolk, James Emerson Holland of Holland, Walton Randolph Holland, of Emporia and Edward Earl Holland of Sandston; two daughters, Mrs. Carol Howell of Franklin and Mrs. Robert Boyd of San Diego; a sister, Mrs. O.J. West of Suffolk; 31 grandchildren; and 25 great- grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in the W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home by the Rev. L.F. Smith. Burial will be in South Quay Baptist Church cemetery.
