All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ JOHN DUDLEY HOLLAND John Dudley Holland, aged 43, of Apt. 3, 709 Redgate Avenue, died at a local hospital yesterday morning at 2:45 o'clock after an illness of four months. He was a native of Nansemond County, and had resided in Norfolk for 22 years. He was the son of the late William Henry and Mrs. Mary A. Holland. Mr. Holland was a conductor for the Pullman Company, and had served in that capacity for 23 years. He was a member of Ghent Methodist Church, Corinthian Lodge 236, A.F. & A.M., and Order of Sleeping Car Conductors. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Jess Fisher Holland; one daughter, Mrs. Sheldon F. Hall, Norfolk; one son, John Dudley Holland, Jr., Norfolk; one brother, Fred C. Holland, Suffolk; three sisters, Mrs. O.D. King, Suffolk; Mrs. S.W. Johnson, Norfolk and Mrs. Stafford Fooshe, Richmond, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home of E. Lee Cox & Brother, Westover Avenue at Manteo Street tomorrow morning at 11 o'clock. The Rev. Walter C. Gum, pastor of Ghent Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the family plot in Bethlehem Christian Church Cemetery, Nansemond County.
