HOLLAND RITES FRIDAY; PARTY LEADER Suffolk, July 14 - Funeral services for John Richard Holland, 88, chairman of the Nansemond County Democratic Executive Committee for more than 50 years, will be held at 4 p.m. Friday in Holland Christian Church. Burial will be in Holland Cemetery. Mr. Holland, father of Captain Rodney H. Holland, commander of State Police Division I headquarters near Richmond, died Wednesday at his home in Holland. He was a member of the Nansemond School Board for 22 years, the county Board of Supervisors for 11 years, and was chairman of the Federal Farm Loan Board. Mr. Holland also served as Mayor and Council member of Holland, and was the oldest member of the Holland Christian Church. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mamie Holland; five daughters, Mrs. H.L. Edwards, of Warwick; Mrs. J.N. Bowen and Mrs. J.T. Lee, both of Richmond; Mrs. M.L. Carey, of Jacksonville, N.Y., and Mrs. W.H. Joyner, of Arlington; four other sons, Horace B. Holland, of New York City; Raymond H. Holland, of Wilmington, N.C.; R.S. Holland, of Virginia Beach, and J.T. Holland, of Charlotte, N.C.; two sisters, Miss Lillie Holland, of Nansemond County, and Mrs. Walter Powell, of Suffolk; 21 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. ****************************************************************************** Rites Held Friday For John R. Holland Funeral services for John Richard Holland, who died Wednesday, were conducted Friday at 4 p.m. at the Holland Christian Church by the Rev. J.H. Lightborne, Jr., pastor. Burial was in the Holland Cemetery. Pallbearers were Shirley T. Holland, Ayler J. Holland, Waverly N. Holland, Preston Holland, Sumner Rawles, G.D. Underwood, L.P. Waldo, John Henry Powell, Vernon G. Eberwine and Harold Brown. The pall was of white carnations, asters, glads and baby's breath.
