JOBIE NEWMAN HOLLAND

   Jobie Newman Holland, 71, of 5713 Holland Road died Thursday in Norfolk 
General Hospital.

   He was a native of Nansemond County and the husband of Mrs. Emma Sue Wood 
Holland.  He was a retired superintendent of the Virginia State Highway 
Department and a member of Holland Baptist Church.

   He was the son of the late James M. and Mrs. Martha J. Holland.

   Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. James H. Powell, and a son, Donald 
L. Wood, both of Suffolk; three sisters, Mrs. Irene Holland of Suffolk; Mrs. 
Ethel H. Parker of Sunbury, N.C. and Mrs. Bernice Lenhart of Newport News; and 
a grandchild.

   A funeral will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in Sidney F. Harrell Funeral Home 
by the Rev. Herman W. Russell.  Burial will be in the Holland Cemetery.
