LYNWOOD CARR HOLLAND

DR. L.C. HOLLAND, SUFFOLK DENTIST DIES AT AGE 73

   Suffolk, Sept. 20 - Dr. Lynwood Carr Holland, 73, dean of Suffolk dentists 
and former member of the Suffolk City Council died here Tuesday after a brief 
illness.  He had practiced dentistry here for 51 years.

   Dr. Holland was perhaps as widely known for his performances as a clown in 
circuses and other such events as he was as a dentist.

   He picked up his hobby after appearing at a circus in Norfolk some 20 years  
ago and has performed as guest clown with Ringling Brothers at its annual 
opening in New York on many occasions.

   He was appointed to the Suffolk City Council Jan. 16, 1913, to serve the 
unexpired term of Colonel J.H. MacCleary.  He served as a member of the 
council and he served as superintendent of the fire department and 
superintendent of cemeteries and city parks.
