HOLLAND DIES HERE LAST NIGHT Lee Pretlow Holland, 49, prominent attorney and active for many years in fraternal and civic affairs of the city, died last night at the Lakeview hospital following a short illness. He had recently returned to the city after an absence of several months and was taken sick shortly after his arrival. Mr. Holland, who was a graduate of Washington and Lee, was a World War veteran and a past commander of the local post of the American Legion with which organization he was actively interested. He was the son of Col. E.E. Holland and the late Mrs. Otelia Lee Holland, and is otherwise survived by one sister, Mrs. Gerald Creekmore, of New Orleans, one niece and one nephew, and a number of cousins living in Suffolk, Nansemond county and Norfolk. Funeral services will be held at the Christian church tomorrow afternoon at 3 o’clock and will be attended by the American Legion post in a body. The Rev. J.G. Truitt will officiate and will be assisted by the Rev. Herbert N. Tucker. Burial will be in Cedar Hill cemetery. ****************************************************************************** LEE PRETLOW HOLLAND Lee Pretlow Holland, only son of Colonel E.E. Holland of Suffolk, State Senator for this district, died suddenly at Lakeview Hospital Tuesday night following an illness of several months. Mr. Holland, who was 49 years of age, an alumnus of Washington and Lee University, World War veteran and an attorney of Suffolk, had been a frequent visitor in Franklin, being related to several Franklin people through his mother, the late Mrs. Otelia Lee Holland, of the well-known Lee family of Isle of Wight County, as well as to the Pretlow families of this county through his paternal grandmother. Mr. Holland is survived by his father and one sister, Mrs. Gerald Creekmore of New Orleans, and by a large and prominent family connection. Funeral services were held from the Suffolk Christian Church yesterday afternoon at 3 o’clock by the Pastor, Dr. John G. Truitt, assisted by Rev. Herbert N. Tucker, Rector of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Suffolk, in the presence of an unusually large assemblage. This from Franklin who attended were: Mr. and Mrs. J.F. Bryant, Jr., J.B.
