HALLAND DEAD [sic] She Passed Away Yesterday Afternoon as the Sun Was Setting. [...] Suffolk, Va., July 17. - (Special.) - Mrs. E.E. Holland is dead. Her spirit was wafted away this afternoon just as the sun was getting behind the trees and church steeples over in the West. The death angel swooped down and claimed as his own one of the purest, noblest, and most beloved ladies in Suffolk - a wife, devoted and true, an affectionate mother, a congenial friend - a zealous Christian woman. Mrs. Sarah Otelia Holland breathed her last about 5:25 o'clock this afternoon at No. 26 Bank street. She had been on the very threshold of another world all day. In fact she was reported dead on the streets several times before noon. Mrs. Holland had been ill for a month or more, but not until this week was her condition taken as critical. Ever since last night she had been practically dying, though she was strong enough to-day to kiss her husband a long and tender farewell. The funeral will take place at 10 o'clock Monday morning from the Christian church. Dr. W.W. Staley will preach the sermon. The Interment will be in Cedar Hill. HER RELATIVES. The deceased was the wife of Hon. E.E. Holland, president of the Farmers' Bank, and States Attorney of Nansemond, to whom she was married about thirteen years ago. Mrs. Holland's father is Major Patrick Henry Lee, who still lives. She leaves two children - Pretlow and Bessie. She was the sister of Willis J. Lee, of Nansemond; I.P. Lee, of Norfolk; A.T. Lee, of Augusta; Mrs. William M. Jones, of Norfolk; and Mrs. J.P. Gay, of Franklin. She was a sister of A.J. Gardner's first wife. Mrs. Holland was thirty-six years old. Her body was embalmed tonight. ****************************************************************************** TOWN OF SUFFOLK [...] Mrs. Holland Buried [...] Suffolk, Va., July 19. - (Special.) - [...] LAID UNDER THE GRASS. The funeral of the late Mrs. E.E. Holland took place this morning at 10 o'clock from the Christian church. It was largely attended. The floral offerings were beautiful and varied in design. The local supply was exhausted and orders had to be sent to florists in outside cities. The services were of a very impressive order. Dr. W.W. Staley preached the funeral. He was assisted by Revs. J.F. Love, W.J. Laine and N.G. Newman. At the conclusion the funeral cortege moved toward Cedar Hill in solemn procession. There the remains were laid away beneath the sod. The pall- bearers were: Dr. H.W. Campbell, H.E. Smith, G.W. Nurney, W.W. Eley, John B. Pinner, G.W. Truitt, W.F. Jones, Jr., and Otis S. Smith. Sarah Otelia (LEE; Mrs. Edward E.)
