HUME Suffolk, March 2, - Funeral services for Gilbert L. Hume, widely known lumber man, and member of the North Carolina and the Southern Pine Associations, and former vice president of the Montgomery Lumber Company, who died suddenly Saturday morning at the Ricks Hotel, Rocky Mount, N.C., were conducted this afternoon at 3:30 o’clock at his home on Brewer Avenue, Suffolk, by the Rev. Herbert N. Tucker, rector of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. The hymns, "Ten Thousand Times Ten Thousand" and "Thou Knowest, Lord," were read at the service by Mr. Tucker. The casket had for a pall Ascension lilies. There were many handsome floral tributes form various organizations and lumber firms with which Mr. Hume had been affiliated in his long and brilliant career in this industry. Burial was in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers were R.L. Woodward, Jr., Holmes Butler, Willis Riddick, Edward Walton of Norfolk, J. Thornton Withers, Harvey M. Holland, James H. Corbitt, and Hersey Woodward, Jr. Scores of friends, many from other cities, served as honorary pallbearers. Gilbert L.
