A member of the South Quay Baptist Church, Mr. Hines was a son of the late John E. and Martha Thorne Hines of the Isle of Wight County. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. D.W. Stephens and Mrs. Janie Hines Eley, both of Carrsville and two brothers, E.R. Hines and S.A. Hines of Zuni. Funeral services were conducted at 2:30 o’clock Monday afternoon at the I.O. Hill & Company Funeral Home, Suffolk, by Rev. Preston Chappell, pastor of South Quay Baptist Church and Rev. Curtis L. Hoffman, pastor of the Colosse Baptist Church. Burial was in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suffolk. Pallbearers were A.W. Ballard, John Ballard, Carlton Cutchin, George Darden, Raymond Darden, Elmo Holland, Edward Lankford and Sherman Redd.
