Hines, 70 Buried Jan. 14 In Suffolk Mills Riddick Hines, well known patent medicine manufacturer, died January 13th in Suffolk after an illness of several months. He was 70 years old. He was a native of Isle of Wight County and moved to Suffolk early in life and for many years was a painting and decorating contractor. During the early 1930's he and an associate developed formulas for medicines which he compounded in his own laboratories and sold to the retail and wholesale trade. He was a son of the late James Thomas and Martha Baines Hines of Isle of Wight County. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Olivia Howell Hines of Suffolk; three sons, Henderson S., Charles Elliott and Ralph Hines of Suffolk; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Hines Walton and Mrs. Rosa Hines Howell, of Suffolk; two brothers, George T. and William S. Hines of Suffolk, and two grandchildren Charlotte H. and Loretta Hines of Suffolk. Funeral services were conducted Monday, January 14 at 4 P.M. at the Hill Funeral Home by the Rev. Julian S. Hopkins. Burial was in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
