Donald J. Dunlap. Burial was in Holly Lawn Cemetery with I.O. Hill Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers were Harvey W. Stevenson, Don C. Pinner, Alton L. Brinkley, N.T. Poarch Sr., Curtis Johnson, Woodrow Byrum, Robert Eure and Robert Gloss. Hancock, 75, of Route 3 died Saturday at 12:50 a.m. in a hospital. A native of Brunswick County, he was a son of Joseph Theron and Mrs. Jane Redgrave Hancock and the husband of Mrs. Elma Hedgepeth Hancock. He was a member of West End Baptist Church, Adult Men’s Sunday School Class, and Smith Volunteers and an Army veteran of World War I. Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Clarence W. Burton of Suffolk; a son, Jesse T. Hancock Jr. of Blacksburg; a brother, John Herbert Hancock of Waverly; and four grandchildren.
