Hancock, Sr., of Suffolk, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. E.M. Lewis, in Newport News Sunday, February 16, following a long illness. She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. E.M. Lewis and Mrs. O.M. Bray of Newport News, Mrs. R.L. McClenny of Franklin and Mrs. T.S. Bassette of Smithfield; three sons, R.L., Jr., M.T. and Jack Hancock of Suffolk, 20 grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren; two brothers, David Joyner of Suffolk and Elihu Joyner of Norfolk. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon in Franklin at the funeral home of W.J.M. Holland & Son conducted by Dr. Elwood Jones, interment following in the old Joyner Cemetery on the Courtland-Ivor Highway. The active pallbearers were: James Joyner, Millard Williams, Hugh Williams, Irvin Williams, Herbert Hancock, Howard Hancock, William Joyner and Willie Williams. [Mollie (JOYNER; Mrs. Robert L.)
