Harrison, of 644 Douglas Avenue. A native of Southampton [sic*] County, he was the son of the late Talbot H. and Mrs. Sarah Frances Harrison [sic*] and was a resident of Suffolk until moving here three years ago. He was a retired contractor and the husband of the late Mrs. Eva Virginia Harrison. Besides his daughter he is survived by another daughter, Mrs. James A. Pennington, of Hallwood, Va.; two step-daughters, Miss Bennett Wilkinson, of Washington; and Mrs. Robert A. Jernigan, of Norfolk; one step-son, Stephen Wilkinson, of Newport News; one sister, Mrs. Mattie Winborne, of Holland, Va., and one grandchild. The body was removed to the Snellings Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon [30 September 1948] with interment following in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suffolk. (EDWARDS) HARRISON. His Social Security application Oct 1947 also gives his mother as Sarah F. Rather, his mother was Mary Frances (EDWARDS) HARRISON. The family appeared as "Harriss" in the 1860 in Eastern Dist., Isle of Wight Co.; enumerated 5 Sep 1860; "M.N." age 4 months. I see no indication the family ever lived in Southampton Co. His father was a Confederate veteran, having served as a private in Co. D, 16th VA Infantry.
