CHAS.T. HORTON DIES AT AGE 74 

A Prominent County Man Succumbs Early Today 

  Charles Thomas Horton, age 74, prominent farmer of Nansemond county, died at 
his home near Whaleyville, today at 3:30 A.M.  He was the son of the late 
Sarah Elizabeth Horton and David Horton of Nansemond county. 

  Mr. Horton is survived by his widow, Mrs. Molly Eley Horton; one son, Audrey 
Thomas Horton, of Whaleyville; three daughters, Mrs. Carlton W. Brinkley of 
Cypress Chapel; Mrs. Ben Woolfley [sic; Wolfley] of Whaleyville, and Mrs. 
Randolph Reid, of Hampton; eight grandchildren; three brothers and two 
sisters, William J. and Walter Horton of Whaleyville; Lonnie Horton of 
Suffolk; Mrs. Frank Smith and Mrs. Edward Baines of Whaleyville. 

  The body was taken to the funeral home of I.O. Hill & Company, 441 W. 
Washington Street, where it will remain until 10:30 o'clock Friday morning, 
at which time it will be taken to his late residence near Whaleyville. 

  Funeral services will be conducted Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the 
Great Fork Baptist church in Whaleyvide, by the Rev. W.H. Clark, assisted by 
Rev. Rufus H. Corbitt. 

  Interment will be in the church cemetery.
