DEMPSEY D. HARRELL 

  Funeral services for Dempsey D. Harrell were held Friday afternoon at 2:30 
o'clock at the Holy Neck Christian Church, conducted by the Rev. W.M. Jay. 

  Members of the church choir accompanied by Mrs. June Davidson, sang the 
hymns "Abide With Me," "Nearer My God to Thee" and "Jesus Lover of My Soul." 

  Active Pallbearers: W.J. West, Littleton West, Ellis Harcum, Richard Gray, 
Livey Lewis, June Davidson, Harry Davidson, Junie Whitfield.  Honorary 
pallbearers were friends of the family.  Burial was made in the church 
cemetery.

Dempsey D. HARRELL, 25, son of John & Matilda, & Mary Elizabeth Howell, 20, 
   daughter of Edward ["Ned"] & Mildred Ann, m. 1 Jan 1883, in Nansemond Co.
   (Nansemond Co. M.Reg. {BVS copy} 1883 p. 282-A #143) 

The 1900 Census - Holy Neck, Nan.Co. - gives b. Oct 1855; m. 15 yrs. 

D.Cert. 1844 (Holy Neck #1) gives b. [day overwritten, illegible] Oct 1850, 
   but d. age 82.
