Mr. Harrell is survived by a widow, Defrassa McCotter Harrell, a daughter, Mrs. W.L. Smith, of Belleville, N.C.; five sons, Richard Harrell, of Franklin, Va., Charles Harrell, of Driver, Va., Robert Harrell, of Port Norfolk, and Benjamin Harrell, of Greensboro, N.C. Mr. Harrell was a native of Sunbury, N.C., but had made his home in Suffolk for the past eleven years. Mr. Harrell was brave Confederate veteran, having served throughout the War Between the States with a North Carolina regiment. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 3 o’clock at the residence by Rev. H.S. Hardcastle, assisted by Dr. F.L. Criminger. Burial was in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
