The services were in charge of the Rev. H.S. Hardcastle, pastor of the church; the Rev. H.E. Cromer, of the Main Street Methodist Church, and the Rev. Dr. H.J. Goodwin, of the First Baptist Church. There were many beautiful floral offerings. The choir sang the favorite hymns of the deceased, "God Be With You Till We Meet Again" and "The Old Rugged Cross." Interment was in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers were J.S. Branch, Elvin Gardner, R.C. Harrell, Leslie Davis, James Bangley, N.T. Gray, Curtis Saunders, Frank Butler. Members of the Twentieth Century Baraca Class of the Christian Sunday School, Col. E.E. Holland, teacher, formed the honorary escort. His father, James Norfleet HARRELL (1826 - 1858), is buried in Block D, Lot 18. His body was found in the Nansemond River 10 Jul 1858; an inquest judged his death to have been probable murder.
