AGED NANSEMOND CITIZEN EXPIRES 

James E. Harrell Dies At Age of 83 

  James E. Harrell, aged 83, a prominent citizen of Nansemond county, died at 
the home of his granddaughter, Mrs. J.L. Byrd, near Whaleyville last night 
after an illness of two weeks. 

  He is survived by six granddaughters, and three grandsons, among them being 
Fred Harrell and Louis S. Harrell, both of Suffolk.  Funeral services will be 
held Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Liberty Spring Christian church, 
conducted by Dr. I.W. Johnson.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.

      JAMES E. HARRELL 

  Funeral services for James Edward Harrell, were held Thursday afternoon at 
3 o'clock at the Liberty Spring Christian church, conducted by Dr. I.W. 
Johnson. 

  Members of the church choir, accompanied by Mrs. I.W. Johnson, rendered the 
selections "Jesus Lover of My Soul," and "Will the Circle Be Unbroken?" 

  There were many beautiful floral tributes, and the casket was covered with a 
pall of white carnations and snapdragons. 

  Active pallbearers were: N.T. Shelton, C.H. Vaughan, L.F. Bradshaw, W.B. 
Byrd, Tommie Howell, Jim Tidwell, W.T. Barnhill, W.E. Taylor.  Friends of the 
family were honorary pallbearers.  Burial was in the church cemetery.
