A son of Wilson and Mary Williams Horne of Nansemond County, he was a veteran of World War II and was a member of the Woodmen of the World. He is survived by five sisters, Mrs. L.R. Boyette and Mrs. James Salmon of Nansemond County, Mrs. O.A. Adams and Mrs. Clarence Jones of Suffolk and Mrs. Lemon Wilkins of Petersburg; four brothers, Alfred Horne, of Nansemond County, Alton Horne, of Ponce City, Okla., Ashley Horne, of South Bend, Ind., and Albert Carwell Horne, USA. Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow at 4 p.m. at the Hill Funeral Home by the Rev. John C. Mitchell, pastor of the First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery. ****************************************************************************** Rites Held Thursday For Alvin Horne Funeral services for Alvin Horne were conducted Thursday at 4 p.m. at the Hill Funeral Home by the Rev. John C. Mitchell, pastor of the First Baptist Church. Burial was in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Mrs. James Nolen, sang, "Safe In The Arms of Jesus" and "Sunrise," accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Webb Pinner, Jr. The casket was covered with a pall of red and white carnations. Pallbearers were Woodrow Salmon, Calvin Salmon, Jack Salmon, Claude Salmon, Robert Horne, Paul Bradshaw, Sam Jones and Raleigh Fanney. Alvin HORNE, mechanic, WW-II veteran, b. 16 Oct 1921, Duplin Co., NC, d. 3 Sep 1957, at home, Nansemond Co., interred in Cedar Hill Cemetery (Block P, Lot 55*), Suffolk, 5 Sep 1957, "Suffolk (VA) News-Herald," Vol. 35, No. 209, Sep. 4, 1957, p. 3; "Suffolk (VA) News-Herald," Vol. 35, No. 211, Sep. 6, 1957, p. 3 *His parents & brother Alfred are also buried there.
