All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ ROZEL JACOBS Rozel Jacobs, a prominent business man of this city, died Wednesday morning at his home in Wellons Street after several months’ of failing health, in the 75th year of his age. Mr. Jacobs, a native of Pittsburgh, Pa., came to Suffolk thirty-three years ago and engaged in the manufacture of bricks, and was for years a member of the Suffolk Clay Company. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Annie Jacobs; four sons, W.R. Jacobs, of Pasadena, Calif.; H.L. Jacobs and R.L. Jacobs, fire chief of Suffolk, and Guy R. Jacobs, of Fresno, Calif.; and three daughters, Mrs. W.R. Mitchell, Mrs. R.H. Brinkley and Mrs. R.O. Harvey, of Suffolk; also one sister, Mrs. Matilda Rick, of Lakewood, N.J., who has been with him for the past month. He was member of the Methodist Church of his native city, and the funeral services, held Thursday afternoon at the residence in 109 Wellons Street, was conducted by Rev. H.P. Clarke, of the Main Street M.E. Church, assisted by Dr. W.W. Stanley, of the Christian Church. Interment was made in Cedar Hill Cemetery. The active pallbearers were: H.S. Eley, H.J. Bowen, C.A.
