Two Prominent Persons Pass to Their Final Reward. Death of Mr. L. W. Jordan and Mrs. Myra Hannaford - Roll of Honor of the Public and High Schools - Personal. (Special to Virginian-Pilot.) Suffolk, Va., Jan. 30. - Mr. L.W. Jordan is dead. The end came about 9 o'clock this evening at his home, on Main street, near Institute. He had been ill several months with heart trouble and dropsy. The deceased was best known to his friends as "Bish." His associates of the Mt. Pleasant Yacht Club gave him the title of "Commodore," by which appellation many persons knew him. Mr. Jordan was one of the best known traveling clothing salesmen of the South. He had been with Strouse Bros., of Baltimore, for about twenty years. Every clothing merchant in his territory, embracing Georgia and parts of Virginia and North Carolina, knew and liked him. There was no traveling man more popular than Bish Jordan. THE BEREAVED ONES. Mr. Jordan leaves a wife, who was Emma Hall; three daughters - Misses Virginia, Mary and Nellie - two sisters, Misses Mattie Jordan, of Suffolk, and Puss Jordan, of Smithfield - and two brothers, R.W. Jordan, of Norfolk, and A.E. Jordan, of Richmond. The deceased was a Confederate veteran and a member of the Tom Smith Camp, which body will honor the obsequies. Mr. Jordan was born in Isle of Wight. L.W. Jordan's death takes away a loving husband and father, a delightful friend and companion, a Virginia gentleman of the old school. JORDAN. The funeral of the late L.W. Jordan, who died last night, will take place at noon to-morrow from St. Paul's P.E. Church. The Tom Smith Camp will assemble half an hour earlier at the office of Adjutant John F. Lotzia. Mr. Jordan went in the war when a lad. He served in an Isle of Wight company and was afterward in the artillery service. He was in his 53d year at the time of death. The deceased carried several policies of life insurance. Suffolk, Va., Feb. 1. - [...] THE FINAL RITES. The floral designs at the late L.W. Jordan's funeral at noon today in St. Paul P.E. Church were among the most beautiful ever seen in Suffolk. Some of those sent by Baltimore friends were of surpassing loveliness. The service was conducted by Rev. Joseph B. Dunn, rector. The Tom Smith Camp of Confederate Veterans attended the obsequies of their dead comrade. The burial was in Cedar Hill Cemetery, these being pallbearers: Active - George L. Barton, James C. Bell, J.H.
