D. J. JONES DIES AT AGE 89 YRS. 

Well-Known Farmer Succumbs Last Night At Portsmouth 

  David Jackson Jones, age 89, of Holland, died last night at 11:25 o'clock 
in the King's Daughter hospital, in Portsmouth, where he had been under 
treatment. 

  Mr. Jones was a native and life-long resident of Holland, where he engaged 
in farming pursuits.  He is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Russell Baker, 
of Wilson, N.C.; Mrs. B.I. Satterfield, of Durham, N.C.; Mrs. T.A. Cross, of 
Portsmouth; Mrs. Jasper Hamlin of Durham, N.C.; and Mrs. Ralph Aiken, of 
Washington, D.C.; two sons, D.E. Jones, of Greenville, N.C., and L.H. Jones 
of Myrtle; two sisters, Mrs. Alex Howell, of Suffolk, and Mrs. Anthony 
Cogsdale, of Pennsylvania. 

  The body was taken to the funeral home of I.O. Hill & Company, where it will 
remain until 1:15 o'clock Sunday afternoon, at which time the funeral 
procession will leave for Holland, where the funeral services will be held at 
the Holland Christian church, at 3 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. R.L. House, 
of Portsmouth, and [illegible.] 

  Burial will be in the Holland cemetery.
