He was a son of the late William Mason and Mrs. Idonia Rawls Jones of Nansemond County. He was a lifelong member of South Quay Baptist Church. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Elizabeth Goodman Jones; and four daughters, Misses Mollie Lawrence Jones, Carolyn Louise Jones, Mary Elizabeth Jones and Fannie Webb Jones of the home; one brother, William Mason Jones of Suffolk; and one sister, Mrs. L.R. Morrison of Morganton, N.C. A funeral service was conducted in W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Home Sunday at 2:30 p.m. by the Rev. Phillip E. Jenkins, pastor of South Quay Baptist Church, and the Rev. William H. Corbitt, pastor of Hillcrest Baptist Church, Suffolk. Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jack Jones, J.E. Jones, John Henry Goodman, Emmett Rawls and James E. Rawls and J.T. Pierce.
