ELLEN JONES Mrs. Ellen [sic*] Myrtle Jones, 66, of Broad Street, New Bern, N.C., mother of Clem Jones and Murphy Jones, both of Suffolk, died this morning at 12:55 a.m. at the Camp Butner Hospital in Creedmore, N.C., after a long illness. She was the wife of the late O.C. Jones, and the daughter of Jim and Willie Civils, of Craven County, N.C. In addition to the two sons here she is survived by three other sons, W.T. Jones, of Hampton, Julius F. Jones, of Portsmouth and Callie Jones, of New Bern; two daughters, Mrs. A.H. Bloomberg, of Raleigh, N.C., and Mrs. R.S. Allison, of Hampton; a sister Mrs. Mabel Riggs, of Durham, N.C.; a brother, Hoyt Civils, of New Bern; 26 grandchildren and three great grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews. The body was brought here to the I.O. Hill and Company Funeral Home where services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock with the Rev. R.E. Brittle, pastor of the Bethlehem Christian Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Lawn Cemetery. ****************************************************************************** Jones Burial At Bethlehem Funeral services for Mrs. Ellen [sic*] Myrtle Jones, of New Bern, N.C., who died Monday morning at the Camp Butner Hospital in Creedmore, N.C., were held yesterday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the I.O. Hill and Company Funeral Home. The Rev. R.E. Brittle, pastor of the Bethlehem Christian Church, conducted the services, and read the poem "Crossing the Bar." Interment took place in Holly Lawn Cemetery. Mrs. Phillip Johnson and Mrs. Robert Gwaltney, accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Webb Pinner, sang "Does Jesus Care" and "Beyond the Sunset." The pall was of red roses, Easter lilies, white carnations, feverfew and baby's breath. Pallbearers were H.L. Byrd, John O'Berry, J.T. Herring, T.R. Ricketts, Harvey Bowles, Vergil Gaskill, Tom Roughton and Noah Jones. D.Cert. 11537 (Dutchville #143) gives Ella Myrtle, age 67; married; no information on birthdate or -place, parents or burial site; informant: Mrs. Glays M. GRAY. Her husband (1878 - 1952) is buried in New Bern Memorial Cemetery, New Bern, NC. (Find a Grave Memorial #34369487) They m. 7 Jul 1903 in Lenoir Co., NC. Her father "Jim" James Henry CIVILS (1856 - 1905) is buried in Asbury Cemetery, Craven Co., NC. Her paternal grandfather William Franklin "Frank" CIVILS was a Confederate veteran, having served as a private in Co. B (2d), 32nd NC Infantry. He surrendered at Appomattox C.H.
