JONES Mrs. Miriam Byrd Jones, 80, died at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday in a Chesapeake nursing home. A native of Nansemond County, she was a daughter of Josephus and Mrs. Alice Copeland Byrd and the widow of Clyde Vernon Jones. She was a member of Somerton Friends Meeting. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Odis Willis of Rocky Mount, N.C., and Mrs. D.F. Sibel of King of Prussia, Pa.; two sons, David J. Jones of Chesapeake and R. Ernest Jones of Nansemond County; two brothers, J. Leonard Byrd of Suffolk and Howard E. Byrd of Nansemond County; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Somerton Friends Meeting House by the Rev. James A. Coney. Burial will be in the Somerton Friends Cemetery. The body will be taken from I.O.
