SELMA RAWLS JONES

MRS. BROCK JONES

   Suffolk, Feb 17 - (AP) - Mrs. Brock D. Jones, 70, of Holland, died Thursday 
in Lakeview hospital.  Mrs. Jones was a graduate of the Finney School at 
Suffolk and was formerly a teacher in the public schools of Nansemond County. 
Active in community and church affairs, she served as district superintendent 
of the Eastern Virginia Woman’s Missionary Conferences of the Congregational 
Church, and later as president of the conference.  Upon the death of her 
husband, Aug. 18, 1939, Mrs. Jones took over management of her farm. 
Surviving her are five sons, Dr. Darden W. Jones, of Franklin; Dr. Brock D. 
Jones, Jr., of Norfolk; Elijah N. Jones, of New York; James Carlton Jones, of 
Holland, and William Thomas Jones, of Franklin; three daughters, Mrs. John G. 
Truitt and Mrs. Ernest H. Stephenson, both of Suffolk, and Mrs. Morris W. 
Pierce, of Holland, and a brother, Dr. Ben W. Rawles, of Richmond.  Funeral 
services will be conducted at the Holy Neck Christian Church at 3 p.m. Friday. 
Burial will be in the Holy Neck Cemetery.
