     Robert Henry Johnston 

  Suffolk, Jan. 2 - Robert Henry Johnston, 84, a prominent resident of Holland 
and a retired railroad man, died early this afternoon at his home after a long 
illness. 

  He was the son of the late Jim [sic; Joe*] and Missouri Johnston of Halifax 
County, N.C.  He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lucille Norfleet Johnston, of 
Holland; one daughter, Mrs. E.H. Hudson, of Portsmouth; four sons, L.C. 
Johnston, of Holland, Wilson C. Johnston, Locust Hill, Va., Vaton E. Johnston, 
Baltimore, Md., Robert Elliott Johnston, Norfolk; two foster daughters, Miss 
Frances Holland and Mrs. J.H. Brown, both of Holland; one foster son, W.N. 
Holland, of Holland; one sister, Mrs. Lucy Etheridge, Roanoke Rapids, N.C.; 
one brother, J.W. Johnston, Pink Hill, N.C.; seven grandchildren; two 
great-grandchildren. 

  Mr. Johnston formerly was a track supervisor of the Southern Railroad, 
having retired about 17 years ago.  He was a member of the Holland 
Congregational Christian Church.  Funeral services will be held Monday 
afternoon at 2:30 at the I.O. Hill and Company Funeral Home, conducted by 
the Rev. J.H. Lightbourne, Jr., pastor of the Holland Christian Church, Rev. 
L.L. McGee, pastor of the Holland Baptist Church.  Burial will follow in the 
Holland Cemetery.

Buried with first wife Annie Louvenia (SAUNDERS) JOHNSTON (1875 - 1922). 
   His widow (1879 - 1961) is buried with her first husband Jesse W. HOLLAND.

D.Cert. 1983 (Holy Neck #14) also gives his father as Jim; the informant was 
   his son L.C. 

Rather, his father was "Joe" Joseph William JOHNSTON. 

His mother Missouri Anne Walker (HARRIS) JOHNSTON (1847 - 1933) is buried in 
   Cedarwood Cemetery, Roanoke Rapids, Halifax Co., NC.
