ANNIE MAE HEDGEPETH JOHNSON

   HOLLAND - Mrs. Annie Mae Hedgepeth Johnson, 79, died Saturday at the home 
of her daughter, Mrs. Goldie Darden.

   She was a lifelong resident of Nansemond County, daughter of Elijah and 
Mrs. Josephine Beale Hedgepeth of Isle of Wight County.  She was a member of 
Beaver Dam Baptist Church and the Woman’s Missionary Society.

   Besides her daughter, with whom she resided, she is survived by her 
husband, Jodie Pittman Johnson; two other daughters, Mrs. Sadie B. March of 
Holland and Mrs. Dorothy J. Holland of Carrsville; two sons, Jasper L. Johnson 
of Suffolk and Robert L. Johnson of Carrsville; three brothers, Fenton 
Hedgepeth and Willie Hedgepeth of Suffolk and Claude Hedgepeth of Holland; 18 
grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

  The body was taken to W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home, from which it was 
taken to Beaver Dam Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Sunday for a funeral service at 3 
p.m. conducted by the Rev. Edwin C. Thornton, Jr., pastor.  Burial was in the 
church cemetery.

   Pallbearers were R.L. Miles, Dr. C.C. Crossland, Howard Beale, M.H. 
Gardner, Jarvis Howell and Emmett Rawls.
