Mrs. Anna Luke Johnson, aged 65, dropped dead as she stepped upon the porch of her daughter's home, where she had gone with the intention to pay a visit, a few minutes after noon today. Walking from the automobile which had brought her from her home on the Suffolk-Windsor road to the home of her daughter, Mrs. J.W. Pruden, on the Holland road, Mrs. Johnson climbed the low steps and as she reached the porch level, collapsed. Death was practically instantaneous. Members of the family said that Mrs. Johnson had been in ill health for several months, but that recently she had apparently improved in health and her sudden death was a great shock. Mrs. Johnson was the widow of John A. Johnson and the daughter of the late Isaac and Sarah Luke. She is survived by four daughters, Miss Iola Johnson, Mrs. J.W. Pruden and Miss Eunice Johnson, of Nansemond county, and Mrs. H.A. Redd, of Isle of Wight; three sons, J.L., J.R., and H.P. Johnson, of Nansemond county; a sister, Mrs. A.W. Ashburn. of Newport News; a brother, C.A. Luke, of Nansemond; nine grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements were not obtainable so shortly after the sudden death. It was said, however, that the service will probably be conducted at Bethlehem Christian church tomorrow afternoon at 4:30 o'clock by the Rev. R.E. Brittle, assisted by the Rev. Dr. W.W. Staley and the Rev. I.W. Johnson. Interment will be made in Cedar Hill cemetery.
