ANDREW JACK JOHNSON

   Suffolk, Virginia, January 8 - Age 83, a former resident of Nansemond County, 
died Thursday, January 8, 1953 at 1:40 p.m. in King’s Daughters’ Hospital, 
Portsmouth, after a long illness.  Widower of Josephine Johnson of Nansemond 
County and son of Andrew Jack and Martha Johnson of Southampton County, 
Virginia, he is survived by 3 sons, W.L. Johnson and A.M. Johnson, both of 
Portsmouth and H.S. Johnson of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; 1 sister, Mrs. Ella 
Hollamon of Woodland, North Carolina; 4 grandchildren, several nieces and 
nephews. The body was brought to the I.O. Hill and Company Funeral Home, where 
it will remain until Sunday, January 11, 1953 at 1:45 p.m. at which time it will 
be taken to the Liberty Spring Christian Church for services at 2:30 p.m., 
conducted by Dr. Jesse H. Dollar, pastor and Dr. I.W. Johnson. Burial will be in 
the church cemetery. Pallbearers were W.E. Eason, J.S. Powell, N. Herman 
Bradshaw, W.A. Ellis, H.E. Savage, Sr., J.R. Holland, Marvin Bryant and J.W. 
Tidwell.
