JOHNSON DIES YESTERDAY Succumbs to Illness of Six Weeks Duration; Funeral Saturday At Mt. Carmel Christian Church. Lemuel J. Johnson, age 70, died at his home, 218 Pinner street, yesterday afternoon at 3:30 o’clock, after an illness of six weeks. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Leila Johnson, of Suffolk, and seven children, Mrs. Eula Butler, of Norfolk; Mrs. N.C. Hofler, of Portsmouth; H.E. Johnson, of Portsmouth; B.R. Johnson, of Hodges Ferry; R.J. Johnson, of Jacksonville, Fla.; J.L. Johnson, of Washington, D.C.; L.O. Johnson, of Norfolk, twenty-six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, one half-sister, Miss Sallie Duck, of Walters, and one half-brother, J.G. Duck, of Walters. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 4 o'clock at Mount Carmel Christian church, conducted by Rev. H.S. Hardcastle and Dr. W.W. Staley. The funeral procession will leave I.O. Hill and Company at 2:30 o’clock, for Mount Carmel. Interment will be made in the Mount Carmel church cemetery.
