All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ LUCY ANNE JOHNSON Suffolk, Jan. 28 - Mrs. Lucy Anne Johnson, daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. Anthony Persons, of Isle of Wight County, and wife of the late Fabius C. Johnson, of Windsor, died early Monday at the home of her son, R.V. Johnson. Mrs. Johnson was born April 25, 1844, and is survived by four children, Mrs. T.A. Eure and A.M. Johnson, of Eure, N.C. and R.V. and P.O. Johnson, of Suffolk. She also leaves 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and many other relatives. Funeral services for Mrs. Johnson were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the residence, 100 Pinner Street, by the Rev. H.J. Goodwin, Dr. W.W. Staley, the Rev. J. Sydney Cobb and the Rev. J.M. Roberts. A quartet composed of Mrs. V.A. Brinkley, Mr. R.H. Jacobs, F.O. Gardner and W.T. Mathews, accompanied by Alton Howell, sang "Jesus, Lover of My Soul", "Rock of Ages" and "Asleep in Jesus" There were many floral tributes, and the casket was covered with a beautiful double spray of roses and lilies. Active pallbearers were Jasper Oliver, Spurgeon Drake, Ruvier Johnson, Linwood Beaton, Fred Pierce, T.A. Eure, Arthur Eure and F.O. Gardner; honorary, J.C. Ramsey, L.G. Evans, Mark Tinkman, John Wills, R.D. Bell, J.N. Alexander, Dr. J.E. Rawles and Joe H. Howell. Burial was in Western Branch Cemetery. Lucy Anne (PERSON/PERSONS; Mrs. Fabius C.)
