Obituaries 

Elizabeth Uzzell Joyner 

  Elizabeth Uzzell Joyner, 91, a lifelong resident of Ivor, died Wednesday, 
June 27, 2001, at Louise Obici Memorial Hospital in Suffolk. 

  Born on Feb. 7, 1910, in Isle of Wight County, she was the daughter of the 
late Willie and Evie Stephenson Uzzell.  She was a member of the Ivor Baptist 
Church, the adult Sunday school class and Senior Adult Ministry of the church. 
She was the widow of Crawford B. Joyner Sr. 

  Mrs. Joyner is survived by four daughters, Merle J. Monahan, Linda J. King 
both of Ivor, Josie J. Parker of Windsor and Gloria J. Eppler of Oklahoma; 
two sons, Massey Joyner of Ivor and Crawford B. Joyner Jr. of Wakefield; one 
sister, Beulah U. Britt of Smithfield; 15 grandchildren; and 18 great-
grandchildren.  She was predeceased by a daughter, Nettie J. Kelly. 

A funeral service was held at Ivor Baptist Church on Saturday, June 30, 
with the Rev. Steve Gupton officiating.  Burial was in Holly Lawn Cemetery in 
Suffolk. 

  The family received friends at Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, and at 
Mrs. Joyner's residence in Ivor.  Memorial donations may be made to the Ivor 
Volunteer Rescue Squad.
