His parents were the late Lloyd L. and Mrs. Victoria Chapman Joyner. He was a member of Antioch Christian Church, near Windsor, and the Men's Bible Class of the church. He was also a member of Planters Club and Moose Lodge 141. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary Gardner Joyner; seven sisters, Mrs. E.S. Turner and Mrs. W.E. Mitchell, both of Smithfield, Mrs. Lewis Berryman of Surry, Mrs. Clevon Carr, Mrs. Joe Perry and Mrs. Clifford Harvell, all of Suffolk, and Mrs. Robert Holland of Windsor; three brothers, Elliott Joyner of Richmond, and Earl Joyner and Nurney Joyner, both of Suffolk. A funeral service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Thursday in I.O. Hill & Company Funeral Home by Dr. R.E. Brittle. Burial will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery. ****************************************************************************** JETHRO THOMAS JOYNER SUFFOLK - A funeral service for Jethro (Jim) Thomas Joyner was conducted Thursday at 4 p.m. in I.O. Hill Funeral Home by the Rev. R.E. Brittle. Burial will be Holly Lawn Cemetery. Pallbearers were Marvin Wright, Edgar Knight, Kenneth Ley, Lee Perry, R.W. McCoy, Edward Duncan, Thomas Darden and Richard Sydner. Joyner, 56, of 218 Cedar St. died Monday night in his home. A native of Isle of Wight County, he was a watchman for Standard Brands, Inc. He was a member of Antioch Christian Church and its Men’s Bible Class, the Planters Club, and Suffolk Moose Lodge 141. He was a son of the late Lloyd L. and Mrs. Victoria Chapman Joyner.
