JOYNER, 102, SUCCUMBS Death Follows Recent Illness SUFFOLK, July 10. - Mrs. Nancy Monroe Joyner, born June 11, 1843, in Nansemond County, died Monday at 5:20 p.m. at the home of her only daughter, Mrs. Effie J. Hargrave, on East Washington Street. She was the wife of the late Josiah Joyner and daughter of James Monroe and Sallie Pruden. She had been a member of Bethlehem Christian Church for more than 90 years, having joined at an early age under the pastorate of the late Dr. William B. Wellons. "Grandma" Joyner, as she was known by her many friends, last month celebrated her 102nd birthday anniversary, even though in ill health. Besides her daughter, Mrs. Hargrave, with whom she had made her home for many years, Mrs. Joyner is survived by four sons, Willie J., Jesse E., Richie H., and J.B. Joyner, all of Nansemond County; 13 grandchildren, 21 great- grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 4:30 p.m., at the R.W. Baker and Company Funeral Home. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery.
