Mrs. Ruby Jones To Be Buried Today 

  Funeral services for Mrs. Ruby Asbell Jones, who died Thursday, will be 
conducted today at 4 p.m. at Cypress Chapel Christian church by the Rev. Ellis 
P. Clark, pastor.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Rites at Cypress For Mrs. Ruby Jones 

  Funeral services for Mrs. Ruby Asbell Jones were conducted Sunday at Cypress 
Chapel Christian Church by tihe Rev. Ellis N. Clark, pastor.  Burial was in 
the church cemetery. 

  Mrs. Ellis Clark and Paul Parker sang "The Old Rugged Cross," and Paul 
Parker sang "Sunrise."  They were accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Margaret 
Babb. 

  The casket was covered with a pall of pink carnations, lavender asters and 
baby's breath. 

  Pallbearers were E.T. Sitterton, Norfleet Brinkley, Joe E. Ellis, Jackie 
Morgan, Jimmy Knight, Eley Vann, Bland Chop- [incomplete in original]

Her father James Dorsey ASBELL/ASWELL d. 6 Oct 1963 in Nansemond Co. 
   D.Cert. 29400 gives ASWELL. 

His obit ("Suffolk News-Herald," Oct. 7, 1963, p. 2) gives ASWELL; 
   buried 8 Oct 1963 in the family cemetery; file at:

However, he & her step-mother Penny appear in the 1950 Census - 
   Cypress Dist., Nansemond Co. - as ASBELL. 

As J.D. ASBELL he left will Sep. 14, 1963, presented 9 Oct 1963. 
   (Gates Co., NC, WB7:586-87) 

The executor & principal heir was Ruby's brother Russell Otto ASBELL, Sr. 
   (1916-1971), buried in Eureka Baptist Church Cemetery, Corapeake, 
   Gates Co., NC.  (Find a Grave Memorial #93484462)
