He was born in Suffolk, son of the late Moses Joyner and Mattie Tucker Joyner. He was the husband of the late Kitty O'Brien Joyner. Mr. Joyner moved to the Peninsula in 1927 to enroll at the College of William and Mary, He graduated in 1931. After college he moved to Hampton to join the staff at N.A.C.A. After forty years of service with N.A.C.A. - Navy - N.A.S.A. He retired in 1971. He was an associate member of the American Institute for Aeronautics and Astronautics; was a member of the Engineers Club of the of the Virginia Peninsula; the Hampton Yacht Club for over fifty years; was a founding and honorary member of the Hampton Roads Power Squadron, and a past and honorary Commodore. He was an amateur radio operator and was a past member and honorary member of the Southern Peninsula Amateur Radio Club. He is survived by daughter, Mrs. Gerald V. (Kate) Bailey of Cismont and three grandsons. A graveside funeral service will be held Saturday, Nov. 13, 1993 at 11:00 A.M. in St. John's Episcopal Church Cemetery in Hampton.
