Jernigan, aged 74, died last night at 8:90, at his home in Reid's Ferry, after a long illness. He was the son of the late Tony and Mrs. Molly Holland Jernigan, of Nansemond County. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Viola Holland Jernigan, of Reid's Ferry. Other survivors include one daughter, Mrs. R.W. Bradshaw, of Chuckatuck; three sons, Dewitt, James A. and Jack Jernigan, all of Reid's Ferry; one sister, Mrs. Lena Jernigan, of Holland; three brothers, A.L. Jernigan, of Washington, D.C.; J.T. Jernigan, of Holland; and H.S. Jernigan, of Suffolk. Also six stepsons, Thomas J., W.A., W.N., R.E., C.M., and A.G. Butler, all of Reid's Ferry, and twelve grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The body was taken to the I.O. Hill and Company Funeral Home where it will remain until Tuesday at 2:30 p.m., at which time the funeral procession will leave for the Oakland Christian Church for funeral services at 3 o'clock. Dr. H.S. Hardcastle, pastor, and the Rev. R.E. Brittle will conduct the services. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
